This looks like such a wholesome meal. Even great for hot summer nights. I’m super curious abt Turkish red pepper paste. Does it happen to be hot?

There are two types! Spicy and sweet. I don’t find hot to be very spicy. You can use either. I use sweet. :)

If you are looking for it, in Turkish sweet is tatlı and spicy is acı.

This is such a healthy delicious dish Leslie. The type of dish that’s good to prepare on Sunday so there are leftovers for lunch.

Thank you, Lisa. Precisely! I love to do just that. :) The flavors meld and mingle even more overnight.

This sounds delicious! I can easily find bulgar and will try it when summer tomatoes arrive 💕

This sounds like a great “heat-proof” dish for summer! Kind of reminds me of a less herby tabbouleh with quinoa. Yum!

Haaaaa, I couldn't agree more that mayo-based dishes do NOT belong outside on a hot day! I've been leaning on olive oil/vinegar-based pasta salads for quite a few years now. But this dish with quinoa looks SO refershing! Also, I picked up a paste of Spanish pepper paste a few weeks ago (!), and I think it should do the trick in some of the Turkish recipes I want to try, including this one!

Nice! :) Ooh yeah, that reminds me that last year I was making an olive oil and lemon juice/red wine vinegar salad with pearl couscous. There was arugula, onions, and tomatoes in there, too. Not a pure pasta salad but it was delicious. Do you have a go to pasta salad?

Oh yes, I think that any red pepper paste (as long as it’s not too harsh/astringent like harissa) would be a decent substitute. :) If you make it, I’d love to know what you think!

Oh, that salad sounds divine!! One of my favorite pasta salads in recent years is Molly Baz’ jammy red pepper pasta salad. It’s behind a paywall, but it’s here: https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/jammy-pepper-pasta-salad?srsltid=AfmBOoo2Ye6ElPCN4K0QZeckqWyEoyU-flLiQwXxcMJYNZZpUNEUBAPa

It is SO good. And now that I’m looking at it, I think I need to make it again! I think you’d love it :)

I’m definitely going to try this one because I’m in love with Turkish vegetarian dishes.

I’m so glad, Majed! Please do let me know how it goes :)

Oh, I might try this! It sounds lovely. I too struggle with picnics. I remember I once took some raspberry financiers to my sister's birthday picnic. By the time we got there they were so sweaty from the heat. It was so sad! I need a cooler like your mum!

Leslie Bulut's avatar

Oh dear :( that sounds sad for the financiers. I bet they were still delicious, but not the same texture. Haha yeah, one day, I’m sure I’ll have a cooler, too. For now, I have no where to store one in my apartment. So, I’ll keep relying on dishes like this to bring to picnics! I hope you can try it out. I’d love to know what you think of it! :)
