I’m intrigued by this recipe Leslie. I’m going to try it in cooked in the oven. Now to how you served your meal, I was very pleased to see the sweet potato and broccoli on the plate.

Oh lovely, Lisa! I’m excited to hear how it turns out for you. Yes, we love a starch and vegetable with every meal. :) The colors are so vibrant—it was a treat to look at (and of course, to eat). You might also be happy to know that we drizzled tahini on top of our sweet potatoes. A nod to your awesome sesame post, which I’m still thinking about. :)

Thanks for sharing your story and this interesting beef stew recipe, Leslie. I’m curious about the rice dish your sister-in-law served with the kavurma. Could you share her recipe for that sometime? I’ve been enjoying your recipe for focaccia. Made it three times so far and it’s a keeper!

Hi Zoe! I’m so happy to hear that. Thank you for sharing. :) And thanks for asking about the rice. Turkish people have a way with rice. Actually, it’s one of the “dishes” (they would consider it more of a side) I couldn’t get enough of the first time my mother-in-law made it. I plan to share a recipe for it soon! Please stay tuned. 😊

Hi, Leslie. That looks delicious. I'm also interested in the yogurt drink. I'm not much of a soda/sports drink consumer, but sometimes I need an option that is not just switching to a different style of tea.

Hi Vaunda! Thank you and thanks for asking :) Ayran is a pretty simple drink - just blend together 1 part plain (ideally whole milk) yogurt with 1 part cold water and a pinch of salt. It’s best to put it in a blender to make it a bit frothy, but if you don’t have one, you can just whisk it vigorously until homogenous.

It took me a bit of time to enjoy, but I do like it now. It requires using a yogurt that you like. Add the salt sparingly and adjust with more water if you want to thin it out.

Let me know if you try it and what you think!
